Advocacy Center Mission Statement
The
mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center is to prevent
child abuse now and in the future through…
1.)
Promoting a coordinated, multidisciplinary response
to child abuse by facilitating the collaboration of
professionals and agencies who address investigation,
prosecution and/or treatment in order to reduce the trauma
to the child;
2.)
Providing educational opportunities and programs
and developing awareness within all segments of the
community regarding child abuse.
Statement
of Purpose of the Children’s Advocacy Center
The purpose of the Children’s
Advocacy Center is to help abused children by providing a
safe and comfortable environment designed to meet their
needs for support and protection.
The goal is to improve communities’ response to
child abuse and neglect and to minimize trauma to children
and families. This is accomplished through the coordination of:

Child Protective Services
… Prosecution
Education
… Medical
… Mental
Health … Victims
Services
The
Children’s Advocacy Center of Lawrence County is a
private, non-profit agency affiliated with Jameson Health
System and is a full member of the National Children’s
Alliance. Located in a house, the center provides a warm, home-like
environment where interview can be conducted and where
team members can meet.
Following the initial report and interview, cases
are reviewed by a multidisciplinary team to determine the
most appropriate disposition.
The team’s goal is to interrupt the cycle of
abuse using a multidisciplinary approach with early
intervention and coordination of services.
