The
Multidisciplinary Team Provides Leadership
The
Children’s Advocacy Center of Lawrence County is
thrilled with the recognition and opportunities the
multidisciplinary team has had over the last year.
The multidisciplinary team which is comprised of
the following agencies: the District Attorney’s Office,
Children and Youth Services, the Women’s Shelter/Rape
Crisis Center, Human Services Center, Inc., and Family
Health Council, Inc., has been recruited by local,
regional, and state agencies to provide training and
leadership to other communities starting a
multidisciplinary team or Child Advocacy Center.
Beginning in October 1999, members of the team
presented to several counties in Pennsylvania and Ohio and
presented for the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s
Institute and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and
Delinquency. Their
presentation on “Best Practices for Multidisciplinary
Teams” has received excellent reviews and has led to
other opportunities for mentoring and leadership as well
as recognition in Lawrence County for their commitment and
dedication to child abuse victims.
Lawrence County is fortunate to have such a
dedicated and progressive group of professionals working
to reduce the trauma many children experience through
abuse and the subsequent investigation of that abuse. As a result of their leadership in our community, 90
offenders have been held accountable since the team began
working in collaboration in 1997 and abused children of
our community have received the compassionate and
effective response they so need. |
