Jameson Behavioral Health Services offers a continuum of care for mental health treatment.  Our multidisciplinary team of health care professionals includes doctors, social workers, nurses, recreational therapists and psychologists who support patients and their families with individualized, physician-directed and coordinated care.  Many services are a part of the continuum and range from inpatient services to offering home care assistance in the community.  Services are tailored to meet the special needs of adults and older adults.  Jameson Behavioral Health Services strives to provide comprehensive, safe and competent care to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their families.

INPATIENT SERVICES
Our behavioral health program strives to meet the unique needs of each individual patient.  The primary focus of the Behavioral Health Inpatient Program is to provide the patient with the most current and effective method of treatment.  Services are designed for those patients with acute symptoms of mental illness.  Anyone who is experiencing prolonged symptoms, needing medication adjustment, or who has newly developed symptoms is considered for admission.  Services are available for different diagnoses including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and schizophrenia, among others.  Treatment programs include individual and family counseling, recreational and group therapy, medication and partial hospitalization.  Treatment is directed by a psychiatrist and patients are seen daily by members of the multidisciplinary team.  Families are a valuable resource and are encouraged to participate in the treatment plan.  Our staff is committed to suing resources to promote the highest quality of health available.

GERIATRIC PSYCHIATRY UNIT
The Geriatric Psychiatry provides care for older patients who have depression, dementia, medication-induced delirium and a variety of other psychiatric illnesses.  Disorders such as chronic depression can be as detrimental to the elderly as heart disease, cancer or high blood pressure.  When left untreated, depression in the elderly can be physically debilitating and lead to medical complications such as infection and malnutrition.  Depression also delays recovery from illnesses such as stroke and heart disease.  The most tragic outcome of untreated depression, of course, is suicide.  Although the elderly represent 12 percent of the population, they account for about 25 percent of all suicides.

A behavioral health professional who specializes in assessing the needs of the older adult is standing by to take your call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  For more information, call 724-656-6215.

PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM
Partial Hospitalization Program is defined as an intensive, psychoeducational and therapeutic based treatment experience.  Designed to treat clients who are not in need of 24 hour a day care, but require more than conventional outpatient treatment, it allows for a flexible combination of group and individual therapy, psychopharmacology, and activity programs to meet the needs of individuals in many stages of recovery.

Treatment Approach:  By breaking down the restrictive treatment categories of inpatient and outpatient, partial hospitalization provides an appropriate degree of care while allowing the client the ability to continue being a functioning member of the community.  Treatment is provided for a wide range of psychiatric illness including psychosis, depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, post traumatic stress and personality disorders.

Therapeutic Benefit:  Provides a day program treatment intervention designed to further stabilize acute symptoms of mental illness.  Provides an individualized treatment plan coordinated with the client and the multi-disciplinary treatment team.  Creates a supportive environment fostered by a professional staff dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the independent functioning of each client.  Group therapies designed to improve coping skills, increase ability to manage psychiatric symptoms, improve understanding of mental and emotional illness, and increase knowledge of psychiatric medications.

Eligibility:  A client may be eligible for Adult Partial Hospitalization if he or she: is 18 years or older, has a primary psychiatric diagnosis with acute symptoms, is agreeable to participate in program, can maintain adequate impulse control in order to effectively participate and is not a danger to self or others.
