physical, mental, social, vocational, and economic
usefulness. Our approach to treatment is highly
personalized to meet the specific needs of each patient.
A brief description
of each program offered include:
Physical Therapy
(Adults & Children):
Physical
Therapy is medically prescribed treatment that may utilize
exercise, heat, water, electrical stimulation and
ultrasound to relieve pain, improve circulation, promote
healing, strengthen muscles and increase mobility. The
Jameson Rehabilitations Centers’ physical therapists
assist and closely supervise patients as they use our full
complement of state-of-the-art therapeutic technology to
work towards recovery. Patient are encouraged to take an
active role in setting the goals and expectations for
their physical therapy programs.
Aquatic
Rehabilitation:
Jameson
Rehabilitation Centers provide the most progressive and
innovative aquatic rehabilitation programs in the area.
Heated to a constant temperature, our in-ground pools are
equipped with jacuzzi jets and powerful Badu jets which
create resistance pressure for optimum muscle
strengthening.
Sports Medicine:
Jameson
Rehabilitation Centers offer a comprehensive Sports
Medicine Program to area athletes. Under the supervision
of a physical therapist who works directly with our
athletic trainers, our Sports medicine Program includes
pre-season screenings, injury evaluation, taping,
rehabilitation, and educational programs.
F.I.T. Program:
The F.I.T.
(Fitness in Training) program is a unique component of the
continuum of care provided by our Physical Therapy
Department. It is offered to individuals who have
completed a physical therapy program, but continue to
require a structured program to maintain the proper level
of exercise and upper and lower body conditioning. The
F.I.T. program is a self-directed exercise program that
enables the individual to utilize select pieces of
rehabilitation center equipment for the purpose of
maintaining body strength and conditioning.
Occupational
Therapy:
Routine
daily activities including dressing, preparing meals and
enjoying leisure activities can present unique challenges
to individuals with injuries or disabilities. Occupational
Therapy services are geared to helping adults and children
achieve functional retraining of muscles so that they can
resume productive and fulfilling lifestyles. The
Occupational Therapy program concentrates on developing
visual, perceptual and cognitive skills; transfer training
(such as standing from a sitting position); improving
range of motion and motor coordination, and other
activities that will help enhance independence and
self-care and strengthen daily living skills. Splinting
services and appropriate training in adaptive equipment or
devices, as required are also available.
Speech Therapy
(Adults & Children):
The Jameson
Rehabilitation Centers offer speech therapy for difficulty
with development of language, voice disorders, problems
articulating sounds, stutter tendencies, Aphasia
(difficulty with speech and language processes which often
occurs as a result of a stroke), Dysphagia (difficulty
swallowing liquids and/or solids). Our licensed speech
pathologists assist patients in articulation, fluency,
swallowing skills and cognitive rehabilitation therapies
with the aim of regaining as normal a level of
communication skills as is possible following an illness,
injury, or hearing loss which has affected these skills.
Our speech pathologists also provide basic lip reading and
signing instruction.
Specialized
Pediatric Programs:
Because we understand that
children need special attention, we’ve created a
multi-disciplinary team approach that utilizes
state-of-the-art procedures and equipment appropriate for
children. Your child’s team will consist of a
physiatrist (a doctor of physical medicine), physical
therapists, speech pathologists, audiologists, and
occupational therapists whose treatments and techniques
are sensitive to particular needs of children.
Audiological
Assessment & Aural Rehab:
Hearing
deficits can stem from a variety of causes, congenital,
age, illness, injury, or exposure to high-intensity noise.
Regardless of the origin of the hearing deficiency, our
state-licensed staff audiologist can assess the extent of
the impairment and assist patients with remedial measures
such as hearing aids. We are equipped to dispense,
service, test and repair hearing aids on our premises. We
also dispense a variety of devices and accessories for the
hearing impaired such as alarm clocks, phone alert
systems, closed caption decoders for televisions, and
radio aids. Our audiologist is also available to provide
onsite services to homebound patients and area work sites.
Occupational
Medicine:
Our
Rehabilitation Centers offer a full range of Occupational
Medicine services to area employers which include: Injury
prevention programs, evaluation and treatment of
work-related injuries and illnesses, functional capacity
evaluations; physical therapy, rehabilitation services
including hand therapy, follow-up services including
vocational/psychological services, health and wellness
programs, pre-employment examinations, breath alcohol
testing (Certified by the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation), substance testing and immunization
services.
Hand Therapy:
To serve the
growing population of patients with hand-related injuries
and illnesses, our occupational therapy professionals have
the expertise to develop and monitor programs designed to
meet those particular needs. Through the use of pain
reduction and strengthening equipment, as well as the
availability of splinting services, we provide for the
special needs of these patients.
Social Services
& Psychological Counseling:
Our
Rehabilitation Centers focus on the needs of the whole
individual, not just his or her physical function. Social
caseworkers and licensed psychologists are available to
assist patients and their families with: questions and
concerns they have about policies and procedures which may
affect treatment, information about available programs and
fees, and problems that may arise during treatment as well
as providing post-therapy follow-up and referral services.
Information,
Referral and Follow-up Services:
Our
Rehabilitation Centers staff may provide patients and
their families with information and referral to
appropriate community-based health, welfare and related
service agencies. When an individual needs assistance
which falls outside of Jameson’s service areas, we can
provide a referral and help make contact with the
appropriate community agency.
The Jameson
Rehabilitation Center is accredited by the Pennsylvania
Department of Health, Medicare, the Bureau of
Vocational Rehabilitation, the Joint Commission on
Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and the
