If you haven’t chosen your physician, Jameson can provide you with the names of a number of highly qualified, local obstetricians/gynecologists.  Simply call 724-656-4098, and we’ll help you get started on your selection.

Childbirth preparation classes, offered through Jameson, give parents the opportunity to meet the nurses who will be looking after you during your stay with us.  We conduct free prenatal, breast feeing, early pregnancy, vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), cesarean birth, CPR and sibling classes designed to educate the entire family to the wonderful childbirth experience.  In addition, we provide Lamaze classes for a minimal.

That Special Day Arrives

Our beautiful Maternity Care Center has been designed especially for your comfort and care once you are admitted and labor begins.  We have the latest technology and professional skills as well as the special touch necessary during this exciting time.

            Birthing Rooms and LDR

Our Maternity Care Center features three labor and delivery rooms that are classically decorated and spacious to provide enough space for the whole family.  These LDR rooms (labor-delivery-recovery) provide our patients with a unique homelike setting and allows you to stay in the same room for labor, delivery, and immediate recovery.  The special equipment is close-by…if, and when, it might be needed.

By providing you with one-on-one nursing care, you can have the type of personal interaction that is an important part of the birthing process for both you and your family.

Because we strongly encourage you to keep your baby with you at all times, your nurse will be there to help promote bonding and learning between you and your new baby.

Your Family and Your Baby

At Jameson, we encourage involvement of the whole family in the childbirth process.

We understand that others will want to share in your pride and joy and that in today’s busy world, not everyone’s schedule is flexible.  We offer open visitation to family.  Friends may visit between 10 am and 10 pm.

A Tradition of Quality Care

At our Maternity Care Center, you can be assured that you will have access to qualified, experienced physicians and nursing staff, comprehensive educational resources, a technology advanced facility, and a family-oriented, modern, attractive facility.  The Maternity Care Center at Jameson Hospital is another fine example of how we are continuing the tradition of leadership for our community’s health.

Helpful Hints

Please be aware of the following while you and your baby are patients in the Hospital:

-Never leave your infant unattended in your room.  If you need to use the bathroom or would like to take a nap, you may either close your door or call for the assistance of the nursing staff.  Hospital staff will discuss department security procedures.

-Please be aware of hospital routines concerning procedures in the nursery, feeding, visitation hours, and security measures.

-Do not give your infant to anyone without properly identifying him or her as Maternity Care Center personnel.

-Get to know the nurses in the Maternity Care Center.

-If an unfamiliar person should enter your room inquiring about you infant, alert the nurses’ station immediately even if the person looks like a Hospital employee.

-Know where your infant will be taken for tests and how long the procedures will take.

-Please consider that there may be risks involved in putting your birth announcement in the paper.  The use of outdoor decorations, such as balloons, strokes or other lawn ornaments may not be safe.

Short Stay Maternity Program

The Short Stay Maternity Program is an option that expectant mothers may choose through joint planning by the patient and her physician.  This program may consist of a stay of twenty-four (24) hours after an uncomplicated full-term pregnancy.  Participants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

-A support person must accompany the mother.

-The infant’s physician must agree to the Short Stay Program.

-An adult must be home with the mother and infant throughout the first three days.

-A pediatric office visit is required by two (2) to four (4) days of age.

-The patient must have a telephone or some other quick and accessible means of communication.

            -Childbirth education classes are recommended.

The mother must have demonstrated skill and ability in the following areas:

            -Feeding techniques

            -Skin care, including cord care

-Temperature assessment and measurement with the thermometer

-Assessments of the infant’s well-being and recognition of illness

The program also ensures two home health visits to patients requesting participation.  The financial obligation of the patient can be explained by requesting an appointment with the Billing Department of Jameson Hospital. All fees associated with the Short Stay Program must be paid in full prior to the hospital stay.  If any complications arise during the labor and delivery process and the patient is unable to participate in the Short Stay Program, the amount paid to that date would be applied to the total bill.
