Nikki Gwin, daughter of Children’s Advocacy Center Maternal-Child Care Health Manager Diane Gwin, plans to attend Slippery Rock University with a dual major in elementary and special education.
Katy McCready, daughter of a Jameson North Campus Medical Imaging CAT Scan Technician Sandy McCready, will major in pre-veterinary and animal bioscience at Penn State University, main campus.
This is the 10th year Jameson has offered this scholarship program to employee dependents. To be eligible, the high school senior must be accepted to an accredited school and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
“The judges,” said Jameson Health System Vice President Neil Chessin, “pick the two winners based on participation in extra curricular activities, their grades and two written essays explaining: ‘What experience in your life has impacted you the most and why?’ and ‘If you could change one thing about your high school system, what would it be?’”
Three independent judges from outside Jameson Health System who are familiar and very interested in education chose the recipients said Chessin.
Jameson has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to high school seniors since 1995.
