Jameson Health System wants to warn the public of callers falsely
representing themselves as employees or agents of Jameson. Those
who are approached by these individuals are encouraged to give no
personal information to the caller, refuse to schedule any such
meeting, gather contact information from the caller and report
them to the local authorities.
Jameson has been made aware of a caller
contacting a member of the public and stating that he wished to
meet with the individual to discuss changes in Medicare coverage.
The victim stated that she had a scheduling conflict and asked for
a phone number to call the solicitor back. The phone number given
was not a Jameson contact number.
“It’s important for people to know
that Jameson is not in the insurance business, nor does it employ
or contract with insurance agents,” states Randy Ferguson,
director of public relations and marketing for Jameson.
“Individuals who misrepresent themselves as agents of the health
system in order to solicit or gain entry into one’s home are
simply preying on those members of the community they deem to be
most vulnerable and apt to allow them that access.”
According to
Ferguson
,
anyone receiving such a call should share no personal information
with the caller whatsoever. They should refuse to schedule an
appointment with the caller, especially a meeting in the home.
They should attempt to obtain a contact phone number for the
caller and offer to call him or her back. Any questions about the
validity of the caller may be resolved by contacting Jameson’s
Risk Management Hotline at
724-656-4199
.
If the call is determined to be fraudulent, they should
then report the fraudulent solicitation to the local police.
