MUSIC THERAPY IN PSYCHIATRY
New Castle, PA –
Shoukry Matta, M.D., Psychiatrist/Neurologist, is now offering the
Helen Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music.
This music-centered therapy uses specifically programmed
music stimulating the unconscious to process life experiences and
emotions. This unique
therapeutic approach brings about physical, psychological and
spiritual wholeness. Sessions
are typically two hours long and include pre and post session
discussions and processing as well as music.
Patients with depression, post-traumatic
stress disorder, anxiety disorders and phobias,
obsessive-compulsive disorders are among those who find great
benefit in this therapy. Individuals,
couples, and group therapy are offered and all ages are welcome.
Shoukry Matta, M.D. is a member of
the Jameson Hospital Active Medical Staff, Psychiatry/Neurology
and is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, University of
Pittsburgh.
He attended Ain Shams University in
Cairo, Egypt, served an internship at Gray Nun’s Hospital,
Canada and his residency at Queen Mary and St. Ann Hospital, Royal
Victoria
Hospital, Children and Adolescent Clinic
in Montreal Quebec Canada. He
served a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. He is
certified by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Matta was named Consumers’ Research Council of
America America’s Top Psychiatrist 2002-2003 by the American
Psychiatric Association.
