JAMESON OFFERS A NEW CHOICE
IN MRI
New
Castle, Pa. – Jameson offers patients a new Open Bore High
Field MRI. The Siemens 1.5 Tesla Open Bore magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
system gives Jameson Hospital patients a larger, more comfortable
and less claustrophobic opening while capturing high quality
diagnostic images that their physicians want.
“The patient-friendly design of this magnet,” said
Jameson Health System President/CEO Thomas White, “will make it
easier to accommodate all types of patients which will potentially
reduce the need to repeat and/or interrupt exams.”
Problems with the previous MRI systems included fear of entering a
closed MRI unit. Many
times, patients needed to be sedated or have their test done in an
open MRI with low-field magnets resulting in lower quality images.
The new open bore MRI at Jameson accommodates all size
patients and eliminates anxiety and claustrophobia.
For many exams, your feet go in front and your head remains
outside of the system. That
has never been possible before in open MRI.
This
is the most powerful Open Bore magnet in the field and is three
times greater than the conventional Open, which assures that your
doctor gets the most confident diagnosis.
The
New Open MRI is in a dedicated freestanding center by Jameson
North Campus’s emergency department on Leasure Avenue.
Special parking in front of the new building makes it
easily accessible and convenient.
“We’re pleased to have this high-field, open-bore MRI
provided to Lawrence County so we can capture very detailed images
in a quicker, comfortable environment,” said Jameson Medical
Imaging Director Jane Beight.
With
300 beds, Jameson operates as a full-service acute care facility
offering a full continuum of health and human services in New
Castle, Lawrence County. To
meet the needs of the public, the New Open MRI is accepting
appointments and has convenient operation hours.
