Jameson Health System and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Partners
to Offer Preventive Health Programs
New Castle, PA - Jameson
Health System and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield not only
encourage their members to maintain healthy lifestyles, but also
motivates their members to live longer, healthier and stress-free
lives. Beginning in
January Jameson Hospital will offer Highmark’s preventive health
programs and services, such as “Eat Well for Life,” a
four-week nutrition program, “Discover Relaxation Within,” a
four-week stress management program, Personal Nutrition Coaching
with a registered dietitian, HOPE, Highmark’s six-week
osteoporosis management program and Ornish Advantage, a six-week
heart disease prevention program.
Jameson Hospital is one of the 16 community
organizations and hospitals to offer Highmark’s preventive
health programs and services.
“It is becoming increasingly difficult for people to find
time to adopt healthier lifestyles and that is why Jameson is
partnering with Highmark to offer programs that can easily be
incorporated into a busy schedule,” said Charlane
Verdi, RN, BSN, Director Jameson Staff and Community Education.
Because unhealthy lifestyle
behaviors contribute to chronic and costly diseases, such as
diabetes and heart disease, Highmark’s preventive health
strategy focuses on ways to increase access to its lifestyle
improvement programs so people cannot only manage disease, but
prevent it in the first place.
The
program start dates and times vary with several beginning January
5, 2005. There will
be nominal fees for the programs with those having Highmark
insurance receiving a reduced rate.
You do not have to be a Highmark member to participate in
any of the programs offered.
Please
see our display ad for program start dates, times and program
fees. For more
information please call Jameson Staff and Community Educational
Department at 724-656-4270.
