Jameson Junior Guild Honors Thomas
White, President & CEO at Retirement Gala
Thomas White, president & CEO of Jameson
Health System, was honored at a Retirement Gala sponsored by the
Jameson Junior Guild on Saturday evening, December 6th
at the New Englander Banquet Center in
New Castle
.
Master of ceremonies, Eugene DeCaprio,
Jameson
Hospital
board member, welcomed the more than 380 guests, including
community and health care industry leaders, elected
officials, Jameson administrative staff, board members and members
of the
Jameson
Hospital
medical/dental staff. Mr. White was accompanied by his wife Rosie,
many friends and members of his immediate and extended family.
The invocation was offered by Rev. Dennis
Bupp,
Jameson
Hospital
chaplain. Dinner music was provided by the Grove City String
Quartet.
Margery Weyrick, president, Jameson Junior
Guild, offered opening remarks. She presented Mr. White with an
honorary pink vest and an apron so he might continue his service
to the Guild after retirement.
DeCaprio and Lee Silverman, chairman of the
Jameson Health System Board shared a light-hearted tribute to Mr.
White titled, “Tom White – The Other Story.”
Chris J. Mitsos, past chairman of the Jameson
Health System Board of directors and Silverman then shared a more
serious and moving tribute to Mr. White. Mitsos presented Mr.
White a framed, painted portrait, which will be displayed within
Jameson
Memorial
Hospital
. He also announced a resolution by the Board naming the current
administrative suite the Thomas
White Executive Suite “in honor of thirty-six years of
commitment and leadership,” according to Mitsos. An ice
sculpture featuring White’s photograph and years of service was
an additional focal point of the event.
An emotional Thomas White addressed the crowd
gathered in his honor, thanking them for their years of friendship
and team
work
, and wishing the best to those who will lead Jameson into a new
chapter under the leadership of Douglas Danko,
COO
, who will assume the president & CEO position on
January 1, 2009
. “As this exciting chapter of Rosie’s and my life comes to a
close and we begin our new life’s journey, we will always
remember you and your friendships and assistance,” said White.
The band “The Look” entertained guests
following the official program.
