JAMESON TO HOLD 13TH ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC

New Castle, PA – The 13th annual Jameson Golf Classic, sponsored by the Jameson Health Care Foundation, will be Monday, July 18, 2005, at the New Castle Country Club.

The event has set a goal of raising $100,000 towards the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC).  The CAC is a child-focused organization where local professionals work together to address the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse cases in order to prevent further victimization of children and provide programs by providing programs on their behalf.

This premiere event highlights the participation of Pinnacle Distance Team member Brian Pavlet.  Pavlet will be on hand during the day to hit a long ball for each team and a long drive/trick shot exhibition after golf.  Pavlet has been the most successful team member versus the competition since the Pinnacle Distance Team was formed.  Over the past three years, Pavlet owns a 61-1 record against the challengers and a longest drive in competition of 462 yards. The Pinnacle Distance Team members are also members of the Cobra Long Drive Team that serve as ambassadors for the Pinnacle and Cobra brands.

The Titleist/FootJoy Tournament Pro Shop is the new 2005 event.  Each participant in the Jameson Golf Classic will receive a gift voucher that can be used at the Titleist Pro Shop on the New Castle Country Club grounds.  All Titleist and FootJoy merchandise will be priced at a special tournament discount.  Golfers will be able to select from a tremendous selection of golf balls, clubs, putters, bags, gloves, shoes and accessories.  The Titleist and FootJoy representatives will be there to assist the players with any special order requests or questions.

“Jameson is proud to host a premier golf event like the Jameson Classic,” said Jameson Health System Director of Public Relations Linda Cody-Jaskolka. “Having Brian Pavlet of the Pinnacle Distance team and the Titleist and FootJoy representatives on hand adds a new element to the Classic.  The main reason everyone comes to the event is to have a great day of golf on a beautiful course and contribute to worthwhile causes that benefit our community.”

Courtesy of Stat Medevac, a helicopter ball drop will happen immediately following play on the course.   Numbered golf balls are sold prior to the event.   Those balls will be dropped from the helicopter and whichever one(s) roll into the hole or closest to the hole, determines the winner.

The winner will have a choice of either $1500 in NCCC Pro Shop Merchandise or $1000 cash.  The proceeds of the drop will also benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center.

This year’s Corporate Sponsors are Medical Arts Center Pharmacy/Jameson Outpatient Pharmacy and Siemens Medical Systems.  Major sponsors for the event include Deloitte & Touche and Sky Bank/Sky Trust.  Also about 56 businesses and individuals sponsored.

In addition to the Classic committee members, over 45 volunteers will be there throughout the day to assist the event.

The event’s format is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m.  There are 133 golfers scheduled to participate.  At 5:30 p.m., a dinner and awards presentation will be held at the Country Club.
