JAMESON HEALTH SYSTEM – SOUTH
CAMPUS
AWARDED ACCREDITATION FROM JOINT
COMMISSION
New
Castle, PA – Jameson Memorial Hospital South Campus, during
a recent extension survey, achieved accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations as a result of their demonstrated
compliance with the Joint Commission’s nationally recognized
health care standards.
This
accreditation status applies to all services offered by the South
Campus at 1000 South Mercer Street, New Castle, that were surveyed
by the Joint Commission.
This includes Same Day Surgery, Behavioral Health Services, Adult,
Geriatric Psychiatry and the Partial Hospitalization Program.
This JCAHO accreditation is now combined with Jameson North
and will be effective for three years from April 25, 2002.
Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to
continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation’s
health care through voluntary accreditation.
The Joint Commission’s on-site survey of Jameson Memorial
Hospital and Jameson Visiting Nurses Association was done in
April, 2002. The
Jameson Memorial Hospital received a score of 97 on the survey,
which only 10 percent of hospital’s surveyed receives.
The South Campus was acquired from St. Francis Hospital of
New Castle on November 1, 2002.
This transaction was part of a $520 million initiative
involving
Highmark Blue Cross
Blue Shield, UPMC Health System, Children’s Hospital of
Pittsburgh, St. Francis Health System and Jameson Health System.
To consolidate the services of the North and South
Campuses, changes occurred. To
continue to provide quality care to the residents of Lawrence
County, these changes were surveyed by the JCAHO.
Jameson is focusing on the most challenging goal, to
continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels.
