Jameson Hospital Laboratory
Receives CAP and AABB Accreditation
New Castle, PA - The
Jameson Hospital Laboratory has been awarded an accreditation by
the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of
American Pathologists (CAP) and the American Association of Blood
Banks (AABB), based on the results of recent on-site inspections.
Jameson Hospital laboratories include the North Campus and
South Campus Labs and Jameson Diagnostics.
Bieviendido S. Ong, MD, FCAP was recognized and
congratulated for the “excellence of the services being
provided.”
During the CAP
accreditation process, the inspectors examine the records and
quality control of procedures for the preceding two years.
CAP inspectors also examine the entire staff’s
qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety
program and record, as well as the overall management of the
laboratory. The
stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure
the highest standard of care for the laboratory’s patients.
Jameson Hospital Laboratory is one of the more than 6,000
CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide.
AABB
Accreditation is the designation of choice for blood banking,
transfusion medicine, blood management and cellular therapies
because it demonstrates an organization’s commitment to advanced
learning, continuous improvement and innovation by striving to
sustain the highest possible level of patient and donor care.
“The
AABB’s Accreditation procedures are voluntary,” Dr. Ong
explained. “Jameson
Hospital has sought AABB Accreditation because this program
assists facilities around the country in achieving excellence by
promoting a level of professional and medical expertise that
contributes to quality performance.”
