Douglas Danko to Succeed Thomas White as President & CEO of Jameson Health System Upon White’s Retirement 

 

June 13, 2008 – Mr. Chris Mitsos, chairman of the Board of Directors of Jameson Health System, today announced that Douglas Danko will succeed Thomas White as president/CEO of Jameson Health System, effective January 1, 2009 .

Mr. White has announced his plans to retire effective December 31, 2008 .

As president/CEO, Mr. Danko will be responsible for the developmental vision and overall operation of Jameson Health System, Inc. and its related units.  He will establish short and long range goals, objectives, strategic plans and policies subject to the approval of the Board, monitor financial performance, direct and coordinate activities of senior direct reporting corporate officials, provide leadership to fund-raising activities, approve major capital expenditures, and represent the Corporation to governmental agencies and other external publics, including the community.

Jameson has enjoyed a rich history, and its future holds continued promise under Doug’s leadership. ”

Mr. Danko has been with Jameson Health System since 1975. He served as director of cardiopulmonary services until 1982. He served as division director of the ambulatory care division from 1982 until 1989, prior to his appointment as vice president of professional services in 1989. In  2002, he was appointed to direct the operations of the newly acquired Jameson Hospital South Campus for the Health System in addition to his duties as vice president of professional services. In 2004, Mr. Danko was assigned the role of administrator of the Transitional Care Unit at Jameson Hospital , North Campus. In 2007, he was appointed chief operating officer of Jameson Health System.

Mr. Danko received his Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1975 and his master’s degree in Hospital and Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota in 1988. He received his Pennsylvania Long-Term Care/Nursing Home Administrator license in 2003.

Mr. Danko is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). He is an active member of several healthcare-related boards and committees, including the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of American College of Healthcare Executives and the Board of Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania. He serves on the boards of several regional agencies, including the American Cancer Society, the Human Services Center of Lawrence County, the Lawrence County Economic Development Association, Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and the North Beaver Planning Commission.

Mr. Danko resides in New Castle with his wife Barbara. The couple have three grown daughters, Capt. Allison Danko McFeatters, recently married to Capt. Dale McFeatters, who lives in Weisbaden Germany; Andrea Danko of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Ashley Danko of Sewickley, Pennsylvania.

Mr. White will retire on December 31, after 36 years of service. He has served as president/CEO of Jameson Memorial Hospital since 1973 and as president/CEO of Jameson Health System since 1978.

“Under Tom White’s leadership, Jameson Health System has become a model of success in independent community health system administration,” said Mitsos. “The good he has done for Jameson, for New Castle and for Lawrence County cannot easily be measured. As Tom passes the torch to Doug, the path ahead is indeed bright.”
