JAMESON CELEBRATES NATIONAL HOSPITAL WEEK

June 2, 2009 -- Jameson Health System celebrated National Hospital Week, May 10-16, 2009 . The theme of this year’s national week of recognition is “A Healthy Commitment in Changing Times” acknowledging that hospitals, even in times of economic crisis and change, put patients first.

“During National Hospital Week, we celebrate our employees’ dedication to our patients,” said Douglas Danko, President/CEO of Jameson Health System. “It is our 1400 plus dedicated employees, across all functional areas, who bring their diverse skills, compassion and work ethic to the task of healing. They make us strong as an organization. Together we are a health system in which healing indeed happens every day.”

National Hospital Week dates back to 1921. Today, National Hospital Week is the nation’s largest annual health care event.  Jameson honors its employees throughout the week.

Nurses were first honored at special luncheons on May 6th at the North and South Campuses. 8th.  The luncheons were held in recognition of National Nurses Week, celebrated annually from May 6 through May 12

On May 20th,  Jameson recognized employees celebrating five or more years of service during its annual Employee Service Awards Dinner at the Villa.  This year’s dinner honored 204 employees for their years of service.  Jameson held its first Employee Service Awards dinner in 1966.

The Anne and Warren Hoye Award is given to a Jameson Health System employee who has designed a successful and innovative program to benefit the community and the 2008 Dedicated to Excellence Award is given to a deserving employee.  This year was a first in Jameson’s history of presenting these awards to one individual for both awards.  Jamie McDonough, director of information management, was given the Hoye Award for her excellent job in instituting the new computer system in Information Management.  This will help the community by making their records easily accessible on admission of their care.  The doctor will be able to easily see the patient's history.  Jamie also was nominated by her co-workers to receive the Dedicated to Excellence Award.

Jameson Health System offers its congratulations to all Jameson employees for their continued commitment to the Organization and the patients it serves.
