Castle, PA – On May 26, 2006, 40 students received diplomas
from the Jameson School of Nursing at commencement exercises held
in Orr Auditorium, Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa.
Mr. Lee Silverman, Chairman of the Board and Dr. William Gilleland,
President, Medical/Dental Staff, congratulated the class for
successfully meeting the requirements for graduation.
Mr. Thomas White, President/CEO, proudly presented the
awards to the class of 2006, followed by the presentation of
diplomas by Mr. Lee Silverman.
Mrs.
Kathi Duncan, Director Work Health, gave the keynote address to
the graduates. She
spoke on the diversity of nursing.
Mrs. Jayne Sheehan, Director of Professional and Allied
Health Education, presented the class. Mrs. Suzanne Costello, Student Council Advisor presented the
graduates with their pins and Mrs. Judith Both, Assistant Director
of Professional and Allied Health Education, conducted the candle
lighting ceremony.
The
following students received awards:
Sarah Worst - Lawrence County Medical
Society Award, for outstanding ethical conduct.
Robbin Carter– St. Francis Hospital
of New Castle School of Nursing Alumni Association Award, for
clinical excellence throughout the program of study.
Amanda Fox – Julie Wojtowicz Award,
for conscientiousness, perseverance, self-direction, and
dedication to nursing.
Sarah Rodgers– Lawrence M. Strauss
Memorial Award, for excellence in the nursing of children.
Sarah Worst– Jameson-Shenango Alumni
Award, for the best all-around nurse as chosen by the graduating
class.
Julie Kaufman– Travis A. French
Award, for exceptional ability and understanding in the care of
the childbearing family.
Amanda Masotto and Ronica Rieger–
Rene D. Jenkins Memorial Award, for outstanding contribution to
the School of Nursing.
Julie Kaufman and Cheryl LaMont–
Spirit of Nursing Award, awarded by the School of Nursing faculty
to the graduate who best embodies the spirit of nursing.
Ronica Rieger– Leo and Mitzi
Robinson Memorial Award, for exceptional ability in meeting the
psychosocial needs of the elderly in the community.
James Drake and Missy Stec-Mark L.
Rosenblum Student Nurse Scholarship Award awarded to the graduate
who has consistently demonstrated a high level of scholastic
achievement.
Nikki Ciochetto- Elsevier Science
Award, awarded to a graduating senior who, in the opinion of the
Faculty, has demonstrated excellence in the practice of
medical-surgical nursing.
Tracy Evanoski- Mary Ruth Heasley
Memorial Award, presented to the graduate who demonstrates
excellence in the practice of nursing care of children.
Susan Bradley- Bud Byers Memorial
Award, awarded to the graduate who has a positive attitude,
demonstrates a sincere willingness to help others and has a
“zest” for life.
Lise Larsen- Mohamed K. Tejpar, M.D.
Graduation Award, awarded to the graduate who demonstrates
professional standards, awareness of patients psychological and
physical well-being, and has compassion for patient’s and their
families.
Jameson
School of Nursing was established in 1895 with its first
graduation ceremony in 1898.
