– The Caroline Knox Memorial Trust recently presented Jameson
Health System with a $20,000 grant in support of its “Joining
Together” capital campaign.
Funds raised through the “Joining
Together” campaign support the funding of Jameson Health
System’s Emergency and Surgical Department expansion project.
The project will nearly double the size of
Jameson’s emergency department from 8,000 square feet to
approximately 15,000 square feet. The new expanded facility will
have the capacity to serve 40,000 patients per year. A total of
20-22 emergency patient rooms will be added, as well as four
“fast track” beds equipped for trauma, orthopedic, cardiac and
obstetric patients. The department will be reconfigured to
function more efficiently, while enhanced privacy and security
will benefit patients and families.
The 15,000-17,000 square foot surgery
department expansion will replace nine existing operating rooms
with five larger, state-of-the-art operating arenas and two
endoscope rooms to accommodate new technologies. All major
mechanical support systems will be replaced with the latest
technologically advanced systems.
“On behalf of the Jameson Health System and
Jameson Health Care Foundation board of directors, I thank the
Caroline Knox Memorial Trust Fund for this very generous grant,
which will be utilized for new and expanded emergency and surgical
departments at
Jameson
Hospital
,” said Thomas White, president & CEO. “This generous
grant will allow Jameson to continue its mission of improving the
quality of life and health status of
Lawrence
County
residents.”
“The Caroline Knox Memorial Trust Fund is
pleased to ’join
together’ with Jameson Health System to share the love of
God in the community,” said Helen Blewett, secretary of the Knox
Distribution Committee.
