CEO
Receives 2006 GSPH Distinguished Alumni Award
Thomas
White, President/CEO Jameson Health System, was nominated and
selected as a recipient of the 2006 Graduate School of Public
Health (GSPH) Distinguished Alumni Award.
The Distinguished Alumni awards are presented annually to
GSPH graduates who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to
the field of public health or to GSPH.
Roberta B. Ness, MD, MPH, GSPH Interim Dean, said,
“I’ve taken a look at your nomination letter and CV and you
are certainly deserving of this award.”
Mr. White was
nominated for devoting a lifetime in building Jameson into a
state-of-the art health system continuing to meet the health needs
of the people in the community and beyond while remaining
independent and progressive in the delivery of health care.
He joins a group of
about 45 GSPH alumni who have received this award during the past
20 years. In addition
to Mr. White, two other alumni will receive this award at the
annual alumni dinner in Pittsburgh on April 29th.
Mr. White has served as President and Past President of the GSPH Alumni
Association. He
holds a Master of Science degree in Health Care
Administration from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School
of Public Health and an undergraduate degree from Youngstown State
University, Youngstown, Ohio in Business Administration.
In 2004, Mr. White was awarded the Regent’s Award from
his professional organization, The American College of Health Care
Executives (ACHE).
He sits on
the HAP Trustee Leadership Steering Committee, the Highmark Life
& Casualty Group Board, the Highmark Life Insurance Company of
New York Board and acts as Chairman of its Audit Committee.
He is currently a Pennsylvania delegate on the American
Hospital Association Regional Policy Board.
