Jameson Health System Adopts Smoke-Free/Tobacco-Free Policy
Effective
July 1, 2007
, Jameson Health System will adopt a campus-wide Smoke
Free/Tobacco Free Policy. This
policy means that patients, visitors, employees, physicians, and
anyone on the Jameson campus will be prohibited from smoking or
using tobacco products anywhere inside or on the premises
of any Jameson owned facility.
The only exception will be on the Behavioral Health Unit on
the South Campus where smoking will be permitted in designated
areas at designated times.
The recommendation for the policy change was
submitted by the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee, and was
then endorsed by the Board of Directors.
Jameson Health System has joined hospitals
across
Pennsylvania
and throughout the country in an effort to become tobacco-free.
This policy has been endorsed by numerous health advocacy
groups, including the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of
Pennsylvania. It is
intended to help Jameson maintain the healthiest possible
environment for patients, employees and visitors.
Jameson thanks the public for their
cooperation in complying with the new policy.
