Jameson Junior Guild Members Attend 2008 Pennsylvania Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries (PAHA) Spring Conference and 58th Annual Meeting

New Castle, PA – May 21, 2008 - Jameson Junior Guild members Marge Weyrick, president, Eleanor Boyles, vice president, Norma Vranges, Hostess Shop co-chairman, Diana Whittaker, Northwest Region PAHA president-elect and Ruth Ray, past PAHA president, were among the more than 150 auxilians who attended the 2008 Spring Conference and 58th Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries (PAHA) May 13-15 at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.   Whittaker also served as a greeter for the conference.

The conference, “Auxilians:  Change—Grow—Succeed!,”  featured speakers and educational workshops geared to providing members of the hospital auxiliaries the material needed to best serve their hospitals and stay current with today’s changing healthcare environment.

Keynote speakers Mary Faktor of Faktor’s Talent Network Inc. in Hudson, Ohio, provided information on The Six Ages of Women; Paula A. Bussard, senior vice president, policy and regulatory services of The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, brought attendees up to date on state and federal issues and trends impacting the delivery of healthcare in Pennsylvania; and Ronald McGuckin, Ronald V. McGuckin Associates, Bristol, Pennsylvania, spoke on a variety of management issues.

Workshops offered a deeper understanding and appreciation of the differences which make each of us so unique and methods to keep your gift shop healthy and out of the “ER.”   Two attorneys addressed changes and challenges in the healthcare delivery system that auxilians need to know in order to survive. Auxilians learned to build joy, bust fear and boost energy, and learned how to project a positive image and deal with changes.
