Health System celebrated National Hospital Week,
May 11-17, 2008

Day.”
“During
National Hospital Week, we celebrated our employees’ dedication
to our patients,” said Thomas White, President/CEO of Jameson
Health System. “It is our 1400 plus dedicated employees, across
all functional areas, who bring their diverse skills, compassion
and work ethic to the task of healing. They make us strong as an
organization. Together we are a health system in which healing
indeed happens every day.”
National
Hospital
Week dates back to 1921. Today,
National Hospital Week is the nation’s largest annual health
care event. Jameson
honored its employees throughout the week.
Nurses were
first honored at special luncheons on May 7th at the
South Campus and on May 8th at the North Campus. The
luncheons were held in recognition of National Nurses Week,
celebrated annually from May 6 through May 12.
On May 15,
Jameson recognized employees celebrating five or more years of
service during its annual Employee Service Awards Dinner at the
Scottish Rite Cathedral. This
year’s dinner represented the largest group of honorees to-date,
with 246 employees invited to be recognized for their years of
service.
Jameson held its first
Employee Service Awards dinner in 1966.
Following
a catered meal, honorees and their guests heard welcoming comments
from White; Mr. Doug Danko, chief operating officer; Mr. Lee
Silverman, chairman of the board of Jameson Hospital; Dr. Anthony
Elisco,
III
, secretary/treasurer,
medical/dental staff and Mr. Neil Chessin, vice president of
operations. Honorees
were entertained with vocal performances by members of the New
Castle Playhouse Mini Stars performing group.

Anne and Warren Hoye Award
is given to a Jameson Health System employee who has designed a
successful and innovative program to benefit the community.
This year’s award was presented to five winners because
each of their initiatives was so important to Jameson and equally
deserving of the honor.

DeFiore, scheduling supervisor, were awarded for initiating
the Centralized Scheduling Program,
making the scheduling of outpatient hospital tests easier for
patients. “One call

room scheduler/coordinator, North Campus.

her coworkers as very kind, courteous, dedicated, showing great
strength and courage in the face of adversity and a true patient
advocate.
