Jameson Hospital Holds School of Nursing Graduation

May 25, 2007
, 50 students received diplomas from the Jameson School of Nursing
at commencement exercises held in Orr Auditorium, Westminster
College in New Wilmington, Pa.
Mr. Thomas White, President/CEO, Mr. Lee Silverman, Chairman of
the Board and Dr. David Shober, President, Medical/Dental Staff,
congratulated the class for successfully meeting the requirements
for graduation. Dr. A. Toca
offered congratulations to the class on behalf of the Lawrence
County Medical Society and presented the Lawrence County Medical
Society Award. Mr.
White proudly presented the awards to the class of 2007, followed
by the presentation of diplomas by Mr. Lee Silverman.
Mrs. Judith Both, Assistant Director of Professional and Allied
Health Education, gave the keynote address to the graduates.
Mrs. Jayne Sheehan, Director of Professional and Allied
Health Education, presented the class.
Mrs. Suzanne Costello, Student Council Advisor, presented
the graduates with their pins and Mrs. Judith Both conducted the
candle lighting ceremony.
The following students received awards:
Jodi Kaszowski
– Julie Wojtowicz Award is given to the graduate who has
exhibited determination, perseverance, dedication and compassion
in surmounting financial, physical, social or other adversities of
life.
Douglas Petrik
- Lawrence County Medical Society Award, for outstanding ethical
conduct.
Lori Stewart–
Lawrence M. Strauss Memorial Award, for excellence in the nursing
of children.
Tera Montgomery –
Leo and Mitzi Robinson Memorial Award, for exceptional ability in
meeting the psychosocial needs of the elderly in the community.
Lisa Jones –
St. Francis Hospital of New Castle School of Nursing Alumni Award,
for clinical excellence throughout the program of study.
Sarah Darke -
Elsevier Science Award is awarded to a graduating senior who, in
the opinion of the Faculty, has demonstrated excellence in the
practice of medical-surgical nursing.
Sarah Darke –
Jameson-Shenango Alumni Award, for the best all-around nurse as
chosen by the graduating class.
Molly Melton and
Lori Pinkerton - Mary Ruth Heasley Memorial Award, presented
to the graduate who demonstrates excellence in the practice of
nursing care of children.
Heidi Geiwitz
and Lisa Titus – Travis A. French Award, for exceptional
ability and understanding in the care of the childbearing family.
Michelle
Calabria and Keith DeTiberiis – Rene D. Jenkins Memorial
Award, for outstanding contribution to the
School
of
Nursing
.
Gwen Boyer –
Spirit of Nursing Award, awarded by the
School
of
Nursing
faculty to the graduate who best embodies the spirit of nursing.
Sheryl Klenovich
- Mark L. Rosenblum Student Nurse Scholarship Award awarded to
the graduate who has consistently demonstrated a high level of
scholastic achievement.
Ellen Chiapusio –
Nargis and Mohamed Tejpar, M.D. Award, awarded to the graduate who
demonstrates professional standards, exhibits exceptional
awareness of the patient’s psychological and physical well
being, and has compassion for patient’s and their families.
Jameson School of Nursing was established in 1895 with its first
graduation ceremony in 1898.
