JAMESON HEALTH SYSTEM
ADHERES TO CDC FLU VACCINE RESTRICTIONS
New Castle, PA – As a result of a national shortage of flu
vaccine, Jameson Health System announced today it would
adhere to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines newly
posted on October 5, 2004, and work cooperatively with the local
physicians to attempt to administer the influenza vaccine to those
individuals in the community who are at most risk.
To assist
with the CDC’s recommendation to ration the flu vaccine, Jameson
will make the vaccine available at their scheduled Flu Clinics for
as long as the supply lasts.
Only persons aged 65 or over or who have a prescription
from their doctor identifying a chronic, underlying medical
condition or pregnancy will receive the vaccine on a first come,
first serve basis. Additionally due to specific age related requirements,
children under 13 should see their family physician or
pediatrician. Jameson
will also make the vaccine available to its health care workers
involved in direct patient care.
The vaccine is not recommended for persons with allergies
to chickens, eggs, egg products, or mercury.
An administrative
charge of $18.00 will be applied and payable at the time of
registration. Insurances
accepted are traditional Medicare, Freedom Blue and Security Blue.
Other insurance plans do not cover clinic flu vaccines and
are not accepted. Please call Jameson Hospital, 724-658-9001, for a detailed
message.
