NATIONAL
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH CELEBRATES 19 YEARS
Jameson
Health System to Participate in
National Mammography Day Celebrated on October 17
New Castle, PA – October marks the 19th
year of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Since the program began in 1985, mammography rates have
more than doubled for women age 50 and older (from 25% in 1987 to
69% in 1998) and breast cancer deaths have declined by 1.6%
between 1989 and 1995.
This is exciting progress, but there are still women who do
not take advantage of early detection at all and others who do not
get screening mammograms and clinical breast exams at regular
intervals.
As a fully accredited facility by the American College of
Radiology, the Jameson
Memorial Hospital will offer screening mammograms at the Jameson
North Campus
located at 1211 Wilmington Avenue and the Jameson South Campus
located at 1000 S. Mercer Street.
Please call the Medical Imaging Department at the North
Campus 724-656-4127 and the South Campus 724-656-6011 to schedule
an appointment. The
Jameson Health Place New Wilmington located at 138 South Market
Street, New
Wilmington,
Pennsylvania also offers screening mammograms.
Please call 724-946-
2273 to schedule an
appointment.
To obtain information regarding screening mammograms at a
discounted rate or free to ease the burden on patients with lower
incomes or who are otherwise disadvantaged, please call the
Jameson Business Office at the North Campus 724-656-4189.
The Jameson Memorial Hospital is dedicated to the early
detection of breast cancer. We
hope you will participate in this lifesaving mammography service.
It is a proven tool in detecting breast cancer at its
earliest and most treatable stage.
